Argument Over Rail Contract Continues

Rail industry contractors have voiced their dismay at the lack of work being provided from the Transport for London even though they have been signed up to the £2.8bn railway Tube project since August 2008.

The organisation Transport for London who are in charge of maintaining London's underground established its list of 12 rail contractors for the Vendor Capital Program in the latter part of 2008 but according to the majority of the rail engineering contractors Transport for London have only offered out miniscule amounts of rail projects since its launch.

The twelve railway contractors include Balfour Beaty, Carillion, Taylor Woodrow and Skanska, many other rail contractors who have yet to receive any firm contracts yet have clearly announced they are simply not intending to put any further efforts and finance into the Vendor Capital Program unless they see some contracting work come to fruition.

In response to the anger expressed by the contractors Transport for London have announced the Vendor Capital Program is very much in place and is only held back by them having to debate extremely important business matters surrounding Metronet and other business related issues.
