Gardening Support and Advice

The biggest battle any gardener faces is keeping the garden free of ugly weeds. However, if you have a plan and use the right products you can march those weeds right out of town! However, don't take this lightly as time and effort is required into removing the weeds and you need to know how to treat them. Follow our simple gardening advice and you will be well on your way to being weed free. Weeds grow from seeds or by reproducing from their roots. Once the plants grow from the roots, new plants sprout creating more plants and this process continues over and over again allowing your weeds to thrive in the garden. If your weeds spread from the roots then these are particularly difficult to get rid of.

A basic lesson in weeds – weeds are like any other plant and function like any normal plant. They need water and nutrition to be able to survive just like regular plants. From these 3 essential needs the easiest to eliminate for a gardener is the sunlight. This can be done by mulching. Before mulching you need to prepare the ground first. You can either use chemical based products or organically based products. Once you have removed all the unwanted vegetation form the area let the soil rest for three of four days and do the process again. As you turn the soil the roots come to the surface and are dried by sunlight.

Once this process is complete you can continue to plant your garden. Once you have bedded your plants you need to mulch the bed to keep it free of weeds. Mulching helps control the weeds but natural mulch also adds organic matter to the soil giving it essential nutrients providing you with beautiful plants further down the line. Before mulching you need to spread some newspaper over the soil and place the mulch over top of that. The newspaper will block the sunlight from reaching the surface of the soil and help to keep weed control to a minimum.
