Rail News

The hot news across a number of publications at the moment is the upsurge in train punctuality across the UK with numbers topping the best recorded since records began back in 1922.

Network Rail are delighted that figures from last years statistic highlight an increase of over ten per cent taking punctuality figures to over 90 per cent, with April itself being the highest yet at 93 per cent.

Network Rail took over the infrastructure of the rail system in 2002 and since then there has been record investment into the system which is clearly delivering the desired results for commuter improvement.

Accrediting not only themselves Network Rail place much of the credit at the feet of the train operators who have worked tirelessly to improve the standards of Britain's railway system. Only two train operators incurred a negative result in punctuality figures for the last year these were Virgin Trains and London Midland but this was entirely down to the major and essential upgrades that were imposed on the West Coast Main line.
