
Despite a massive swing of voters in the local elections toward the Conservatives the Labour party is still defiant that the results will not impact on them performing well at the next general election. Quite an astonishing prediction given the results so far indicate nearly 200 seats have fallen from the labour camp.
There are plenty a brave faces being presented in the labour party this morning as they slip into third place behind the liberal democrats and the Conservatives who now see themselves holding 44% of the national vote.
Public and commercial confidence has waned significantly over the past few months as recent fears of the credit crunch will be at the forefront's of many voters minds. Add to the melting pot the current housing issues, the 10p tax row and the rising costs of fuel and food and you can start to appreciate why the public are making a stand in the most powerful way they can.
Gordon Brown will today be licking labour wounds and contemplating his next political moves to turn his party round before the general elections.
