
It has been no secret for some time that kings of software, Microsoft have wanted to compete on a level internet playing field with Google who literally command the lucrative advertising world of the internet for years.
Microsoft are believed to have put in a bid of 47 billion dollars for Google's biggest rivals, Yahoo but the offer was simply not enough according to sources who say they were looking for more than fifty billion.
The joint might of Microsoft and Yahoo could have bought the software giant a lucrative share of the multi billion pound industry that is expected to double its revenue opportunities in the next 2 years to over 80 billion dollars.
Shareholders with Microsoft and Yahoo were reported to have been excited by the opportunity that presented itself however Microsoft chief exec Steve Ballmer said the money Yahoo wanted was simply too much for Microsoft to commit to.
