Engineering Slows Down Under Recession

With the world economy in turmoil one of the areas affected by the down turn in industry is manufacturing at the most basic level including precision engineering. There is no doubt in the mind of many, both old and young that this recession is the hardest hitting known to man and one that is not only affecting Britain but the global economy itself.

Many UK based companies are feeling the pinch as manufacturing slows down, the car making industry is significantly impacted by the slow down and the knock on effect is being felt by many smaller manufacturers. Even those who provide specialist services on precision lathes for instance are noticing a significant downturn in production and demand for even the most technical and specialist products they normally produce for bespoke projects.

Despite the current economic position many believe the Britain's precision engineering industry will come out positive because it is simply renowned as a world leader in this field. Britain is facing a grim reality check at the moment as it realises not only the impact of the recession but the impact of online shopping which has now all but decimated many high street names in retail.
