Adult Education Class Costs Halved

Concerned at the effects of the credit crunch Derbyshire County Council is offering half price skills for working classes in a bid to secure attendance for students who might be suffering the cost of the current economic disaster.

The County Council has put up the help to ensure numbers are maintained for two very simple reasons. One, it wants those benefiting from the adult education to continue to take advantage of its opportunities and secondly, if numbers drop then there is a very good chance Government funding through the learning and skills council could be reduced or in the worst case scenario, demanded back.

The simple maths in the equation proves that spending £30k to help reduce costs for the classes is by far a cheaper option than loosing out on the Learning and Skills Council funding programme.

Whilst this has been published as news in the Derbyshire area the is a very real possibility of it having to be adopted throughout the country.
